National Flag of Mozambique

This is the natonal flag of Mozambique, in Africa.

Yes, the crest really does feature a book (knowledge), a hoe (labour), and an AK47 assault rifle. Here's a close-up.

National Flag of Mozambique

The three symbols represent Mozambique's equal dedication to education, productive labour, and defense. However, having an assault rifle on your flag is definitely un-cool. In 1999, the government of Mozambique held a competition for a new flag, and US$12,000 was awarded to Mozambican architect, Jose Forjaz. However, the design was not published, and plans to change the flag have since appeared to have stopped.

Mozambique has a population of over 19 million people, and declared independence from Portugal in 1975.
